Tourism Johor to be corporatised within six months

MALAYSIA- Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that by the end of this year, the state would be corporatizing its tourist agency in preparation for Visit Johor Year 2026.

He stated that for Johor to become the primary tourist destination in Malaysia, the industry needs to be improved.

“The topic of corporatizing Tourism in Johor was raised recently during a meeting with Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Within the next six months, Tourism Johor will become a corporation as part of the state government’s plan to bolster the industry.

“Tourism Johor should be fully corporatized by the end of this year,” he declared yesterday at a hotel in Bandar Penawar.

According to Onn Hafiz, state administrations have previously taken similar actions, therefore corporatizing a government-owned tourism organization is not a novel concept.

“We will be able to hire people with a strong background in tourism by corporatizing Tourism Johor,” he continued.

Director of Tourism Johor Sharil Nizam Abdul Rahim said the change might aid the organization in broadening the scope of its administration.

“Corporatizing Tourism Johor is a wonderful idea since it will improve our operations because the management will be larger and more capable.

“We will also find it simple to work with private organizations shortly to promote Johor to tourists, both locally and abroad,” he continued.
