(Reuters) The businesses announced on Wednesday that Honeywell and NXP Semiconductors will deepen their collaboration to create AI-powered aviation and autonomous flying technologies.
With the goal to enhance flight planning and management, the businesses will integrate chipmaker NXP’s computer architecture with Honeywell’s Anthem avionics, a cloud-connected cockpit system.
In order to improve autonomous flying technology, the alliance will strive to modify NXP’s autonomy architecture, which was initially intended for the automotive sector, with Anthem.
The transaction, which expanded on their partnership last year and concentrated on Honeywell’s building management systems, was not made public in terms of its financial aspects.
With manufacturers of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) hoping to transform urban transport, autonomous flying has gained attention in the aviation industry.
Anthem will be used by eVTOL manufacturer Vertical Aerospace to test its VX4 aircraft, the firms announced.
