Mosque splendour to be featured in upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 promo video, says Tiong

KUALA LUMPUR: According to Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, a more thorough Visit Malaysia Year 2026 advertising video will feature elements of mosque architecture.

The newly released 41-second tourism advertising montage, which caused controversy because it omitted mosque aspects, was described as a quick and simple launch video by the minister of tourism, arts, and culture.

“This 41-second movie serves as a brief and straightforward introduction. Our primary goal is to highlight Malaysia’s distinctiveness inclusively. I hope everyone is aware that these kinds of launch videos can’t be overly lengthy or intricate.

“Malaysia’s breathtaking mosque architecture is just one of its many diverse features. As a result, these components are part of a more thorough promotional movie that focuses on several facets of our country. On Wednesday, January 8, he stated, “This video is nearing completion and will be released shortly.”

“The upcoming video will also feature other features showcasing Malaysia’s arts, culture, and tourist attractions, such as the Sumazau dance of Sabah, the Ngajat dance of Sarawak, and the silat (a traditional Nusantara martial art), which are symbols of the nation’s cultural richness and unity,” he added.

Tiong voiced dissatisfaction with the acts of some groups who took advantage of the situation by inciting ethnic and religious feelings, thus creating division.

“These kinds of extreme viewpoints disturb the peace in our society. I vehemently disagree with attempts by some to reframe government projects into agendas that are incompatible with Malaysia Madani’s values.

“Unity, respect for one another, and our shared wealth should be our top priorities. Our main goals are to make Malaysia a top travel destination and to stimulate the economy through the arts, culture, and tourism. I urge everyone, regardless of race, religion, or background, not to politicise this matter or turn it into a racial or religious issue,” he said.

Earlier, the 41-second film, which was posted on Tourism Malaysia’s official Facebook page, highlighted several well-known tourist spots, such as a historic church in Melaka, Petaling Street (Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown), Central Market, Mulu Caves (Sarawak), Langkawi Skywalk (Kedah), and Batu Caves (Selangor) – Bernama
