BENGALURU: With over a million visitors in 2024, India was a significant contributor to Malaysia’s tourism development, with more than half of these visitors coming from Southern India.
As part of its Visit Malaysia 2026 roadshow, Tourism Malaysia began its Sales Mission in India on February 3–7, covering Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi, to build on this momentum.
India has been a major market for Malaysia for more than 20 years, and the country is aiming to attract 1.6 million Indian tourists this year, according to a group of delegates who came to Bengaluru on Wednesday to promote Malaysian tourism.
The Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, emphasized the strategic significance of India. For more than 20 years, India has been a significant market for Malaysia. With its state-of-the-art convention centers, opulent hotels, and expert event services, Malaysia is quickly becoming as a top destination for MICE travel. As stated by Periasamy, its well-connected infrastructure makes it the perfect location for international conferences, business meetings, and exhibits.
