PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian government has moved swiftly to allay concerns following a recent border incident with Thailand, assuring that the country remains safe, stable, and fully open to international visitors.
In a statement released on August 1, the Ministry of Tourism reiterated that peace and order have been fully restored, with travel and tourism activities continuing as normal across the Kingdom including via international flights and land border crossings.
“All areas of the country, including those previously affected by the border tension, are now peaceful and secure,” the ministry said. “Our world-renowned tourist destinations remain open and accessible, with services operating smoothly.”
Among the highlighted attractions are the iconic Angkor Wat Temple, the bustling capital city of Phnom Penh, the pristine beaches of Preah Sihanouk, and the tranquil escapes of Kampot and Kep. The ministry also pointed to the growing appeal of community-based eco-tourism sites in Cambodia’s northeastern provinces.
The ministry noted that national and local authorities are actively monitoring the situation and have implemented comprehensive safety measures to protect all visitors.
“Cambodia is firmly committed to peace, cultural respect, and warm hospitality,” the statement said. “Tourism continues to be a cornerstone of our national identity and global friendships. The safety and well-being of visitors is our highest priority.”
