Hotel NEO+ Penang Appoints John Kim as New Director of Operations

GEORGE TOWN: Hotel NEO+ Penang appoints John Kim as its new Director of Operations effective June 3, bringing on board a seasoned hospitality professional with over 15 years of industry experience.

Kim’s hospitality career has seen him hold various managerial positions at notable hotels in Penang and Ipoh.

His most recent role was as hotel manager at Mei Hotel in Penang, where he was widely credited for strengthening operations and enhancing guest satisfaction.

A graduate of Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom, Kim holds a BA (Hons) in Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality. He is also a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), a globally respected accreditation that underscores his professional expertise and leadership credentials.

In his new role at Hotel NEO+ Penang, Kim will oversee all aspects of daily operations, from front office and housekeeping to food & beverage and overall guest experience.

He will report directly to Cluster General Manager Dato’ Gulab Mahatam Rai, himself a respected industry leader with an international portfolio that includes key postings in Sri Lanka, Tioman, and the Berjaya Group.

Together, their shared vision is to drive innovation and excellence across the hotel’s operations while maintaining the warm, authentic hospitality of Penang.

Beyond his professional achievements, Kim also serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (Penang Chapter), a role through which he supports industry development, fosters collaboration among hoteliers, and promotes Penang as a world-class tourism hub.

As Penang continues to thrive as a key tourism destination, the appointment of Kim marks a promising step forward for Hotel NEO+ Penang. His leadership, industry knowledge, and passion for hospitality are expected to bring fresh energy and direction to the property.
