Increased Chinese tourism overseas due to ease of travel.

Industry insiders have discovered that Chinese visitors travelling abroad are becoming increasingly enthusiastic about visiting museums abroad. Among the most sought-after locations are the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and the Erawan Museum in Bangkok.

According to Tuniu, an online travel agency based in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, other foreign museums that Chinese tourists are interested in visiting are the National Museum of Luang Prabang in Laos, the National Museums of Kenya, the British Museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Prado Museum in Madrid, Al Shindagha in Dubai, and the National Museum of Luang Prabang.

Due to greater flying alternatives and more benevolent visa regulations of other nations, Chinese tourists are travelling farther and faster outside of the nation, to specialized locations like Serbia, Morocco, and Tunisia.

Travelers can learn about a city’s history by going to a museum. According to Xiao Peng, a researcher at Qunar, an online travel firm with headquarters in Beijing, museums are significant sites of cultural patrimony, and Chinese consumers have shown a growing interest in visiting them.

Qunar reports that over the May Day holiday, which took place from May 1 to May 5, the platform had record-breaking booking volumes for both hotels and foreign flights.

Specifically, Qunar discovered that the number of flight tickets booked from China to Saudi Arabia and Egypt more than tripled a year, while the number of tickets booked to the United Arab Emirates, Turkiye, and Qatar increased by more than 50% annually.

The United Nations World Tourist Organization reports that the Middle East’s tourist sector has demonstrated strong development momentum in the previous year, emerging as one of the fastest-growing regions globally, while being somewhat impacted by regional turmoil. — China Daily/ANN
