The MAH Penang Chapter marks 24 years with ‘Mingle & Gingle’ Gala dinner

The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang Chapter celebrated its 24th anniversary with a glittering biennial dinner at the St. Giles Wembley Hotel.

Themed “Mingle & Gingle”, the event brought together hoteliers, tourism industry leaders, partners, and friends for an evening of networking, entertainment, and festivity.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, the guest of honour, was welcomed by chapter chairman Dato’ Tony Goh and the organising committee. Also present were Tourism Malaysia deputy chairman and Penang Port Commission chairman Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, MAH national president Datin Christina Toh, and other key figures from the hospitality sector.

In his address, Chow commended the industry’s strong post-pandemic recovery. He pledged the state’s continued support in improving infrastructure, transport, and event facilitation, while inviting candid feedback from industry players.

Goh thanked members and sponsors for their unwavering support, calling the chapter “a beacon of strength and collaboration” that has helped position Penang as a premier tourism destination known for cultural richness, culinary excellence, and Malaysian hospitality.

Yeoh highlighted that Singapore, Indonesia, and China remain Penang’s top source markets, with growing arrivals from Thailand, Brunei, and India. The return of direct flights to Doha, Dubai, Xiamen, Hong Kong, and Medan, along with visa-free entry for Chinese travellers, further boosts the state’s appeal.

The evening also featured a lively performance by a live band and a lucky draw, with guests taking home attractive prizes.

Emcee Gilbert Khoo, ever the crowd favourite, kept the mood upbeat with nostalgic numbers that had guests singing along. The night ended with friends and colleagues catching up, rounding off a warm and memorable gathering for the hospitality fraternity – Penang Hyperlocal
