The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, along with the Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), has launched an initiative on India Destination Promotion Event 2025 in Kolkata. In this regard, the event will be conducted at the Gallery Hyatt Centric and initiate a six-city strategic roadshow aimed at improving tourism cooperation between Türkiye and India.
The event marked a live platform for B2B meetings between Turkish suppliers and Indian travel professionals focusing on luxury travel, MICE tourism, and destination weddings. Türkiye’s diverse tourism offerings were highlighted through engaging presentations and interactive sessions, confirming Türkiye’s status as a premier travel destination.
Among the eminent attendees were Onur Gözet, Deputy Director General for Promotion, Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Basak Onsal Demir, Culture and Tourism Counsellor, Turkish Embassy, and Cagla Yontem, Director for MICE (Weddings and Incentives). These were present with more than 30 leading Turkish tourism partners: luxury hotels, DMCs, and specialized tour operators, to engage with over 200 Indian travel industry professionals.
The growing popularity of Türkiye among Indian travellers received a boost from the passage of 20% interest into 2024 which is supported by robust air connectivity by Turkish Airlines and IndiGo.
While speaking at the event, Onur Gözet pointed out that Türkiye intends to bring lesser-known destinations to Indian tourists that go beyond Istanbul and Cappadocia to provide more diverse experiences for them. He mentioned that Kolkata being a cultural nerve centre made it an ideal launch point for the roadshow, designed to put Türkiye’s hidden gems on Indian travellers’ radars.
On the heels of a successful Kolkata event, India Destination Promotion Event 2025 will continue in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The roadshow reinforces Türkiye’s commitment to the Indian market through strong tourism partnerships, increased tourist influx, and enhanced travel convenience.
