Scoot Adds Fourth Daily Flight Between Singapore and Penang from Nov 22

GEORGE TOWN: Travellers travelling between Singapore and Penang will soon have another option to choose from, as Scoot is increasing its flights between the two destinations from three daily flights to four starting on Nov 22.

Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, Wong Hon Wai, stated that another increase in services is a valuable addition in strengthening air connectivity between Singapore and Penang.

“With the additional frequency and greater travel flexibility, both leisure and business travellers will have more convenience than ever before,” he said in a statement today, going on to add that tickets are already available for purchase on Scoot’s website.

According to Scoot, the new morning flight will depart from Singapore at 6:50 am and arrive in Penang at 8:30 am. The outbound flight will leave Penang at 9:30 am and arrive at Changi Airport at 11:00 am.

Wong said that the new service represents a close coordination of various stakeholders, including Scoot, the management of Penang International Airport, Penang Global Tourism, the Singapore office of Tourism Malaysia, and the Penang State Government.

He explained that the extra flight would also help fill Jetstar Asia’s gap when the airline suspended its Singapore–Penang service.

“With this expanded option, Scoot’s services will now cover morning, afternoon, and evening services, enabling travellers to plan their trips with more flexibility,” he said.

Besides Scoot, other airlines also operate between Penang and Singapore, including Singapore Airlines and AirAsia, while Batik Air will be commencing flights on December 8.

By the end of the year, there will be a total of 91 weekly flights connecting Penang and Singapore.

Wong stated that Singapore is still one of the top three international source markets for Penang, with the international flight segment recording 103,913 Singaporean arrivals between January and August this year.

“The extra frequency will improve convenience for Singaporean visitors and international travellers connecting through Changi and support Penang’s tourism, retail, and creative sectors,” he said.

“Air connectivity is the driving engine of tourism growth. Every new route is a bridge linking Penang closer to the world,” Wong said, adding that the state government remains committed to expanding regional and international routes to position Penang as a leading aviation and travel hub.
