MELAKA: Visitors to Melaka can now enjoy savings of up to RM268 through the Melaka Tourism Passport, a new initiative introduced by the state government in support of Visit Melaka 2.0 and the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

Priced at just RM5, the passport provides discounts of up to 80%, including special tourism packages and reduced admission fees at participating attractions across the state. Tourism Melaka Promotion Division general manager Nasrul Ahmad said the programme is designed to stimulate tourism activity while encouraging travellers to extend their stay in Melaka.

The passport covers 63 tourism products, comprising 35 tourist attractions, 15 accommodation providers including hotels, resorts, chalets and homestays, four restaurants and cafés, four shopping centres, and five health tourism packages.

Visitors can enjoy discounts such as 10% off at Melaka River Cruise and Menara Taming Sari, while attractions including Bayou Lagoon Water Park, Magic Art 3D Museum and Cheng Ho Cultural Museum offer savings of up to 20%.

Nasrul added that the passport also features “Treat and Travel” packages involving four private hospitals in Melaka, aimed at strengthening the state’s appeal among medical tourists. Besides offering discounts, the passport doubles as a collectable souvenir, allowing visitors to gather stamps at participating locations they visit.

Since its launch late last year, 10,000 copies of the passport have been printed and are available at Tourism Melaka kiosks in Banda Hilir as well as selected tourism sites such as Menara Taming Sari, Melaka River Cruise, Zoo Melaka and participating hotels. Some hotels and travel agencies are also providing passports free to visitors as part of promotional efforts.

The initiative is expected to support Melaka’s tourism growth and contribute to the state’s target of welcoming 19 million visitors by 2026.

Tourism authorities also hope the programme will encourage international tourists, particularly those from China who often visit on short trips, to stay longer, ideally three days and two nights, to explore more of the state’s attractions.
