SEPANG, 8 August 2024 – AirAsia has unveiled a major expansion of its flight network, increasing its weekly flights to 3,281 across 10 ASEAN countries. This move, announced during the 57th ASEAN Day event, aims to enhance tourism and economic growth in the region. The announcement was made at a ceremony hosted by AirAsia RedQ and the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
Starting November 1, 2024, AirAsia will introduce four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Da Lat, Vietnam. This new route highlights AirAsia’s commitment to improving connectivity and offering affordable travel options within ASEAN. Da Lat, known for its temperate climate and picturesque landscapes, will be a new addition to AirAsia’s extensive network.
The increased flight frequencies and the restoration of popular routes are expected to significantly boost tourism by attracting more visitors. This, in turn, will benefit local businesses and create new job opportunities within the tourism sector. AirAsia MOVE has partnered with the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA) to support the ASEAN Explorer Pass, enhancing regional travel and promoting tourism within ASEAN countries.
AirAsia’s CEO, Bo Lingam, highlighted the airline’s role in revolutionizing air travel within the region. “In 2023, we carried over 61 million guests, with more than 33% traveling across ASEAN,” Lingam stated. He emphasized AirAsia’s commitment to connecting the region and supporting the ASEAN Economic Community’s goal of market integration.
To celebrate ASEAN Day, AirAsia is offering promotional fares starting at RM49 for travel to various destinations, including Singapore, Pattaya, and Da Nang. These rates are available for bookings made from today until August 11, 2024, for travel between October 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The promotional fares are accessible via the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com.
The ASEAN Explorer Pass, launched earlier this year, provides holders with hotel discounts, ground transportation via AirAsia Ride, and access to AirAsia’s comprehensive flight network across ASEAN. This pass is designed to make regional travel more convenient and affordable for frequent travelers.
