KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has launched the VisitKL portal and mobile app, a cutting-edge digital platform to enhance the city’s tourism sector.
Mayor Maimunah Sharif highlighted that the platform offers detailed information on landmark destinations, cultural events, activities, and experiences to promote enhanced visitor engagement.
“The launching of this portal is DBKL’s proactive move in realizing Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026 to follow,” she said during the launch ceremony at the Mayor’s Courtyard today.
The initiative puts together DBKL’s culture, arts, tourism, and sports department calendar of events to give visitors year-round information about the newest activities in the city.
Mayor Maimunah also pointed to DBKL coordination with the ministry of tourism, arts, and culture’s vision to position Kuala Lumpur as a world-class destination for tourism through art and heritage.
As part of an effort to upgrade infrastructure and quality of life, DBKL has formed two specialist committees: the Urban Beautification Action Committee and the Urban Wellbeing Action Committee.
Additionally, DBKL is also preparing the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Action Plan that aligns with the DBKL Strategic Plan 2030 and Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (KLSP2040). The strategic plans aim to drive economic growth through sustainable tourism.
The DBKL Strategic Plan 2030 focuses on creating a harmonious city through physical and socio-economic development, while the KLSP2040 charts the city’s developmental trajectory for the next 15 years.
Radiating confidence in Kuala Lumpur’s potential as an international tourist destination, Mayor Maimunah urged the public and industry stakeholders to leverage the VisitKL platform to make the city more competitive, tourist-friendly, and visible on the global stage.
With faith in the potential of Kuala Lumpur as a world-class tourist city, Mayor Maimunah invited the people and industry players to use the VisitKL platform to make the city more competitive, attractive, and renowned worldwide.
