Malaysia Airlines is set to enhance its Australian network with increased flights and the debut of its latest Airbus A330neo, offering passengers a quieter, more comfortable journey – and for those in business class, an elevated level of luxury.
The A330neo, which replaces the older A330 models typically seen on Kuala Lumpur–Australia routes, introduces a more refined inflight experience. Business class travelers can look forward to one of 28 private suites, each featuring high walls and a sliding door for maximum privacy – a growing trend across premium cabins worldwide.
Sliding doors are no longer just a luxury for twin-aisle aircraft; they are becoming standard on newer long-range single-aisle jets like the Airbus A321LR/XLR and Boeing 737 MAX. Malaysia Airlines also plans to offer lie-flat regional business class suites on these narrowbody jets.

Each business suite aboard the A330neo is equipped with a lie-flat bed, ample storage, wireless device charging, a crisp 17.3-inch 4K screen, and complimentary WiFi, combining comfort and convenience at 38,000 feet.
The A330neo first entered service on the Kuala Lumpur–Melbourne route in December 2024 and will operate all three daily flights on this route by the end of 2025.
“It speaks to the importance of the Victorian market that Malaysia Airlines plans to use its newest aircraft, featuring the latest onboard product, for its enhanced Melbourne services,” said Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus.
Beyond Melbourne, Malaysia Airlines is expanding A330neo services to Auckland, although the new aircraft has yet to be scheduled for the Kuala Lumpur–Sydney route, which will also move to three daily flights by late October.
As part of its fleet renewal, Malaysia Airlines has committed to acquiring 20 A330neo aircraft through 2028. Travelers can expect the airline’s older A330s to be progressively phased out across its network in favor of the new-generation jets.
Looking ahead, the airline will also retrofit its long-range Airbus A350 fleet with the same new business class suites starting in 2026, ensuring a consistent premium experience across its widebody aircraft.
