MELAKA, March 21 — Melaka will be the host of the launching of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026), said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

The event’s budget has been approved by the federal government, he added, with the state government to undertake the preparations.

The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has agreed and the launch is on World Tourism Day (WTD) 2025, which falls on September,” he added during an interactive session of interaction with the players of the tourism industry of Melaka at Bukit Cina yesterday.

The Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh officiated the event, which featured Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, State Tourism, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, and over 1,000 tourism players from Melaka.

Datuk Seri Tiong reminded all stakeholders, particularly the tourism industry, to promote VM2026 vigorously on every platform, including social media.

“This initiative is important to constructing the tourism economy and ensuring all, especially the people, benefit from it,” he added.
