Penang now offers a slice of winter magic with the opening of Antarctic Snow World at Straits Quay, a new indoor snow park that promises a refreshing escape into icy wonder.
Officially launched by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, the attraction features breathtaking snow sculptures, thrilling ice slides, and a chilly environment that mimics the Arctic experience. Chow highlighted its role in boosting Penang’s tourism, complementing the state’s reputation as a vibrant hub for food, culture, and family-friendly destinations.
“Attractions like Antarctic Snow World elevate Penang’s appeal, drawing visitors both locally and internationally,” Chow remarked, expressing gratitude to the investors who recognized Penang’s tourism potential.
Developed by Angel Amusement Park Sdn Bhd, the snow park uses cutting-edge technology to deliver a safe and authentic snowy experience. According to the company’s director, Leonard Leong, 2,700 blocks of chemical-free ice were used to replicate the magic of Northern Europe.
“The snow is made entirely from pure water, ensuring a family-friendly environment,” Leong explained, adding that the park can host up to 300 visitors simultaneously.
Located strategically in Straits Quay, the park is also expected to boost local businesses and contribute to Penang’s economy, Chow noted during the opening ceremony.
Following the launch, the Chief Minister, dignitaries, and media representatives explored the icy Haven, marvelling at the innovative design and immersive ambience.
Among the attendees were E&O board director Datuk Seri Tee Eng Ho and Chief Minister’s political secretary Lau Keng Ee.
