Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang, have been at the forefront of life-changing initiatives in collaboration with Penang General Hospital since 2009. Through the “Embrace, Gift of Life and Gift of Limbs” projects, these esteemed hotels have played a significant role in funding crucial surgeries for children born with congenital heart defects and providing hundreds of prosthetic limbs to children from low-income families.
To date, both hotels have sponsored nearly one million Malaysian ringgit, positively impacting the lives of 170 children, ranging from ages 1 to 20, offering them a renewed sense of hope and a brighter future. This remarkable achievement underscores the hotels’ unwavering commitment to social responsibility and community support.
In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, Dr. Goh Hin Kwang, Director, and Dr. Wong Khar Ming, Deputy Director of Penang General Hospital, along with their team, recently extended personal thanks to Jegan Selvarajan, the Cluster General Manager of Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Golden Sands, for the hotels’ relentless efforts and dedication to these meaningful causes.
Jegan Selvarajan expressed his eagerness for the future, stating, “As we look forward to 2025, we’re excited to continue positively impacting healthcare and supporting our local community. Our collaboration with Penang General Hospital has been incredibly rewarding, and we are committed to expanding our initiatives to reach even more children in need. Together, we can make a difference and inspire hope in the hearts of many.”
