Malaysia- today, on May 27, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Pagoh Campus opened its Kuliyyah of Sustainable Tourism and Contemporary Languages (KSTCL).
The event was presided over by Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang. At approximately 10.45 a.m., Muar district administrator Hasrin Kamal Hashim, IIUM rector Prof.
Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak and IIUM president Tan Sri Samsudin Osman welcomed Tengku Hasanal Ibrahim. In the meantime, Samsudin stated that the staff at the kuliyyah must pay attention to the technological business of today since it is extremely demanding.
When we bring up the Industrial Revolution in modern times, we get anxious. We fear that this sector will eliminate human values, or more accurately, dehumanize men.
“Therefore, we should maintain good values and foundations so that we do not produce robots who are only good at talking but devoid of values, manners, and morals,” he stated.
According to him, in addition to value, sustainability needs to be prioritized to preserve environmental sustainability, which is in keeping with the goals the university has long advocated for.
“It is completely at odds with the definition of sustainability that we have been fighting for all this time if the primary focus is on how to grow tourism destinations, which results in allowing hills to be flattened and logs to be cut down without control.
“Therefore, I also hope that the lecturers can play a role not only as instructors but also as mentors to ensure that students have the skills required by the industry and the community as well as noble values that can guide them in the increasingly challenging world of artificial intelligence,” he stated.
He stated that the secret to the nation’s prosperity both now and in the future is striking a balance between competence and honesty.
“Let’s not forget the earth when we reach for the sky but stay rooted so that we are always aware and remember about values, morals, and identity,” he stated.
Meanwhile, KSTCL was formerly known as Kuliyyah of Languages and Management (KLM), situated at UIA Gombak Campus, until relocating to the Higher Education Hub, Bandar Pagoh University, in 2017, according to a statement from the Communication, Advocacy, and Promotion Office of UIAM.
The institution was permitted by the Higher Education Department and Higher Education Ministry in March to rename KLM as KSSTCL. This decision was also accepted by the IIUM Senate and IIUM Board of Governors meetings. — BERNAMA
