Vietnam is second after Thailand in tourists to Laos in Q1

According to the Tourism Development Department of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, more than 263,160 Vietnamese travellers entered Laos in the first three months of this year, making up the second-largest group of foreign visitors to the nation during that time.

It stated that during the studied period, Laos welcomed over a million foreign visitors, with Thai tourists topping the list with 337,689. China came in third, the Republic of Korea came in fourth, and China came in fifth.

The ministry states that the Visit Laos Year 2024 intends to not only promote tourism but also educate visitors about the lengthy history and sustainable use of natural resources of the country, as well as to introduce them to art, culture, and traditions.

Laos has been ranked as one of the most appealing travel locations, or “slow travel” spots, by several well-known travel publications in the area and around the globe. They emphasized its ageless charm, outdoor adventures, and cultural attractions.

Laos has developed both short- and long-term strategies to develop this crucial economic sector to compete with other nations in the region and meet the targets set for this year. This has contributed significantly to Laos’s economic progress and recovery.

In 2024, the Lao government expects to welcome 4.6 million foreign visitors, bringing in US$1.3 billion in income. – ANN and Vietnam News
