Penang, 8 November 2024 – The Malaysian-German Society (MGS) celebrated the 50th anniversary of Oktoberfest in Penang, marking the longest-running Oktoberfest celebration in Malaysia. The event, held in Penang, saw a significant gathering of local and international attendees and was honoured by the presence of YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, who delivered a speech commemorating this special occasion.

Wong concluded that the 50th Oktoberfest represents more than just a festival; it reflects shared values of openness, friendship, and a vibrant community spirit. As he raised a toast to the crowd, he celebrated the enduring partnership between Penang and Germany, honouring MGS for its dedication to cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
