HANOI – Vietnam is exploring the establishment of direct flights to Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland as part of a broader plan to expand its tourism sector and attract more European visitors.
The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority has invited airlines to research the feasibility of these new routes, through a government resolution endorsing visa exemptions for visitors from the three European nations under the 2025 tourism promotion programme.
For optimal impact of this policy, the airlines are invited to collaborate with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, participate in international tourism promotional campaigns, and come up with competitive travel packages for European visitors.
The authorities are also striving to position Vietnam as an international destination by simplifying entry procedures, offering incentives, and increasing air connectivity.
This project is part of the overall economic plan of the government, which is expecting 8% GDP growth this year. The tourism industry has also been ambitious with a target of 22-23 million foreign tourists and 120-130 million domestic tourists for 2025.
While admitting the challenges in having direct flights right away, the Civil Aviation Authority has suggested that airlines carry out charter or scheduled charter flights as a stepping stone before establishing permanent routes.
By making it easier and increasing VietnaVietnam Considers Direct Flights to Europe to Boost Tourismm’s image as a world-class destination, authorities anticipate promoting sustainable tourism growth and strengthening economic ties with European markets.
