GEORGE TOWN: Hotel Royale Chulan Penang has launched The B.I.G Buffet, a weekend culinary experience that is “Bountiful, Indulgent and Gastronomic”, as the name suggests.
Every Friday and Saturday evening, the Sri Tanjung Café is transformed into an abode for hearty food lovers, with a lavish feast that combines the elements of a buffet buffet with the elegance of an à la carte dining experience.
Right upon entering, the first thing that strikes you is the wafting aroma of freshly cooked, grilled meats and seafood, setting you up for a memorable experience.

The sumptuous Seafood on Ice display is overflowing with a bounty of sea harvests: Japanese Harima Oysters, Chilean Red Prawns, Spanner Crab and Yellow Scallops – all fresh and plump.
Meanwhile, at the Sizzle Station, the Chefs will impress with Prime Angus Beef Loin seasoned with Himalayan salt, Garlic and Rosemary Lamb Shoulder, Tiger Prawns seasoned with Dill and Cili Padi, and smoked Chilli Crab Claws with delightful flavour combinations.
For an added gourmet treat, diners can request from the made-to-order section, where à la carte signature dishes are “couriered” directly to the table. The Sous Vide Wagyu Rump with Roast Garlic, Crusted Salmon Fillet with Berry Dill Cream Sauce, Rendang Lamb Roulade with Sticky Mustard Rice, and Cantonese Roast Duck are plated with the same care and finesse as fine dining.
“The B.I.G Buffet is a constellation of weekend dining experiences,” said a hotel spokesperson. “We wanted to offer the spectacle of buffet food with the sophistication of restaurant-style food.”
Local flavours will be prominently featured in the B.I.G Street Flavours Corner, where Penang staples like Laksa Penang, Peranakan Curry Mee, Satay, Roti Jala Cheese Leleh, and Weld Quay Pasembor showcase our island’s great food culture.
No meal is complete without a sweet finish! The Sweet Delights Station will entice diners with Cendol, Ais Kacang, pavlovas, cheesecakes and local Malaysian desserts, plus a freshly made pomegranate and ginger lemon spritzer.

The buffet is priced at RM188 nett per adult, RM138 nett for seniors, and RM98 nett for children. Children aged five and under dine free of charge.
