China Southern Airlines to Resume Seasonal Perth–Guangzhou Flights from 30 November 2025

Perth, Australia – China Southern Airlines is set to restart its seasonal direct flights between Perth and Guangzhou, beginning 30 November 2025. The service will operate three times a week, utilizing the airline’s modern Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The reinstatement of this route reinforces ties between Western Australia and China, promising significant benefits across tourism, trade, education, and the broader local economy.

Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer, welcomed the news, describing it as a major boost for the region. “The return of this direct service is fantastic news for our economy,” she said. “While flights are scheduled through March 2026, we are actively working with the State Government to strengthen our relationship with China Southern Airlines and explore the possibility of increasing flight frequency in the future.”

China is Western Australia’s fourth-largest international visitor market. In 2024 alone, 68,000 Chinese tourists contributed $302 million to the local economy. Expanding flight capacity between China and Western Australia remains a top priority for the state’s tourism sector.

Perth Airport is also collaborating closely with Tourism Western Australia to rebuild direct air links with mainland China. These efforts are expected to generate growth in multiple sectors including tourism, business, education, and exports—delivering broad economic gains.

In a move to deepen bilateral ties, Perth Airport recently signed a Sister Airport agreement with Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation, connectivity, and promote mutual tourism and trade opportunities between the two cities.

Western Australia’s Tourism Minister, the Hon. Reece Whitby, expressed strong support for the resumed flights. “We’re thrilled to welcome back China Southern Airlines’ seasonal service between Guangzhou and Perth,” he said. “China is a key market for us, and this direct connection makes it easier for travelers to discover Western Australia’s spectacular landscapes and unique attractions.”

Minister Whitby also highlighted the long-term value of strengthening aviation links with China. “We look forward to seeing this route grow in the years ahead. Enhancing air connectivity is vital to unlocking more opportunities for our tourism industry and supporting our state’s economic future.”

The return of China Southern Airlines’ Perth–Guangzhou route signals a pivotal step in reestablishing strong ties with China. With continued collaboration and investment, both regions stand to benefit from increased connectivity and shared growth.
