SINGAPORE, May 5, 2025 — Malaysia’s flagship retail tourism promotion, the Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival, was unveiled with great fanfare at the 37th Travel Malaysia Fair in Singapore over the weekend, as the country steps up its effort to attract foreign visitors and induced spending in anticipation of the mid-year festive holiday period.
The three-day fair, held from May 2 to 4 at Singapore Expo Hall 5B, drew thousands of visitors with discounted travel packages, hotel discounts, and lower coach fares to Malaysia. It was jointly organised by the Express & Excursion Bus Association (EEBA) and Tourism Malaysia Singapore, in conjunction with Singapore’s June school holidays.

This year’s Mega Sale Carnival, to be held from June 15 to July 31 across the country, will offer up to 70% discounts at Malaysia’s leading malls and retail stores. Themed “MY Priceless Experience”, the campaign is part of Malaysia’s wider initiative to position the country as a desirable, value-for-money destination for visitors in the region.
Our partnership with EEBA and events like the Malaysia Mega Sale are crucial in our strategy to convert short-stay excursionists into longer-staying, larger-spending visitors.”
“Extending average visitor stays and boosting per capita expenditure is key to achieving our target of 45 million tourist arrivals and RM270 billion in receipts by 2025.”.
The fair, now in its 37th edition, is the largest travel exhibition in Singapore dedicated exclusively to promoting Malaysian tourism. This year’s event featured approximately 20 exhibitors, including state tourism boards, tour operators, resorts, and transport companies.
The Tourism Malaysia Pavilion hosted eight major Malaysian brands, including Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort, Bertam Resort & Water Park Penang, Birkin International Hotel Melaka, Encore Melaka, Shama Suasana Johor Bahru, Tiarasa Escapes Glamping Resort, and Trinidad Signature Suites (Hospitality 360), offering personalized travel experiences across Malaysia.
EEBA President Voo Wei Keong said the fair had grown significantly in size and influence over the years.
This platform has been a vital bridge between Singaporean tourists and Malaysian destinations. It plays an important part in driving cross-border travel and introducing visitors to new, rewarding experiences in Malaysia,” said Voo.
With retail and tourism deeply intertwined in Malaysia’s economic recovery plan, the Mega Sale Carnival is set to be a high-impact impetus. Not only will it promote cross-border travel, but it will also highlight Malaysia’s reputation as a dynamic, multi-dimensional destination that caters to leisure and lifestyle-driven tourism alike.
The event also underscores the growing role of public-private collaboration in tourism promotion as Malaysia struggles in a competitive regional marketplace to attract post-pandemic travelers in search of affordability, quality, and cultural authenticity.
