Johor Bahru, Malaysia – – Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre invites this Ramadan to rediscover a retro era of Malaysian cinema history in Juadah Lagenda Seniman, a nostalgic food tribute to the nation’s movie heritage and timeless legacy of film legend P. Ramlee. From 5 March to 29 March 2025, the dining event will be held at Dine@Eight Restaurant, offering a blend of old and new dishes inspired by the golden era of Malaysian cinema. A Feast of Nostalgia and Flavour
The Juadah Lagenda Seniman buffet promises a memorable spread of dishes creatively presented through culinary stations inspired by P. Ramlee’s legendary films. From Labu dan Labi to Ali Baba Bujang Lapok, each station is a story that brings the depth of Malaysia’s heritage in food and culture to life.
Emelyn Rosales, Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre General Manager, commented, “Ramadan this year, we wanted to craft an eating experience which brings people together around great food and cherished moments. Juadah Lagenda Seniman is a tribute to the history of Malaysia’s silver screen, paying respect to the dishes and flavours associated with this golden age.”
Under the management of Executive Chef Abdul Wafi, the buffet features a thoughtfully prepared menu that reflects his love for P. Ramlee’s heritage. Raised in Penang, Chef Wafi was fascinated with stories of the great artist’s love of food. “The stories I heard when I was young about P. Ramlee’s love of food have left a lasting impression on my kitchen philosophy. This buffet is my way of trying to give that to our guests,” said Chef Wafi.
Highlights of the buffet include:
– Labu Labi Corner: Pasembur and Penang Rojak, representing the light-hearted nature of the vintage comedy.
– Jeruk Jeruk Ibu Mertuaku Corner: Sour blend of pickled fruits like Jeruk Mangga and Jeruk Betik, representing the dramatic nature of the film.
