Penang Port Commission and Port Klang Authority Ink MoU with Indian Port Association

New Delhi, India—The Penang Port Commission (PPC) and Port Klang Authority (PKA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Port Association in New Delhi to boost Malaysia-India maritime cooperation further.

Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Secretary General of Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport, and Dato Yeoh Soon Hin for PPC represented Malaysia at the signing ceremony. They were warmly received by Shri T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary of India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.

The partnership is established under the India-Malaysia Ports Alliance (IMPA)and is designed to further bilateral cooperation in several priority areas:

– Infrastructure development of ports

– Reform in shipping policy

– Sustainable management of the sea

– Maritime technology exchange

This project is likely to unleash high-potential opportunities in trade, promote the cruise industry, and enable training programs to enhance the skills of people in the maritime sector.

This MoU would lead to a sharing of knowledge and reinforce trade relations for Malaysia, placing the country in a strategic position to be prominent in the global maritime industry.
