Today marked a major boost to Penang’s booming hospitality industry with the grand launch of the Saturn Hotel by Qravel. Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE), YB Wong Hon Wai, presided over the ceremony, which took place in Lorong Abu Siti and was attended by Mr. Benji Ang (Councilor), Dato Koay Theng hock, Dato Lai Chew Hock, Dato Goh Cheng Liang, Tuan Noreimi Pengarah PRN, Mr Loh Kok Leong , and distinguished guests .
The hotel’s ideal position in George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its thriving tourism industry and rich cultural legacy, was commended by YB Wong Hon Wai. He emphasized that the Saturn Hotel is a great option for tourists looking for convenience and cultural immersion because of its proximity to important destinations like Komtar, neighbourhood cafes, shopping centres, and the city’s renowned heritage zone.
The hospitality sector in Penang has grown significantly in 2024, as seen by the rise in new hotel openings and recognitions like Lonely Planet’s ranking of Penang as Southeast Asia’s second-best destination for lone travellers. Penang leads Malaysia’s Michelin Guide 2025 with 69 outlets, including two Michelin-starred restaurants, according to YB Wong, who also highlighted the state’s expanding status as a culinary tourism destination.
Penang keeps improving its worldwide accessibility in terms of connectivity. There are already 34 direct flights from the state to other countries, and two more are scheduled to open this December. On December 21, Indigo Airlines will launch its Chennai-Penang route, and on December 30, Loong Airlines will launch its Xi’an-Penang route. These ties enhance Penang’s standing as a popular worldwide vacation destination and support domestic travel and hospitality sectors.
In his closing remarks, YB Wong congratulated Saturn Hotel by Qravel on its launch, expressing optimism about its success. “May the hotel flourish with an abundance of guests and continue to thrive in the years ahead,” he said.
With its strategic location and Penang’s flourishing tourism scene, Saturn Hotel by Qravel is set to become a key player in the region’s hospitality sector.
