The Sail Malaysia programme boosts tourism in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: According to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the Sail Malaysia Passage to the East Yacht Rally 2024 initiative will increase tourism in the Tuaran district.

He said that this would be the participants’ first time coming together in Tuaran since the program’s launch in 2005.

We are happy that this program has returned to Sabah, and we find it encouraging that since Wednesday, a rally fleet consisting of over 20 yachts has arrived in Tuaran.

“Although this is the first time that you have converged in Tuaran, I have been told that Sail Malaysia has been coming to Sabah since 2009 and over 400 yachts from all over the world have visited,” he continued.

At the Anjung Gayang Jetty, Jalan Sulaman here tonight, to welcome participants in the Sail Malaysia Passage to the East Yacht Rally 2024, executive chairman of Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd Datuk Jasnih Daya read Hajiji’s address.

The competitors come from several states in Malaysia as well as Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Hong Kong, South Africa, Indonesia, and Thailand.

He continued by saying that almost 1,400 yachts from 45 nations have visited Malaysia thanks to the Sail Malaysia program, which is run by the Cruise Marine Tourism Association of Malaysia.

Economic revenues of more than half a billion ringgit have been generated by this. Again, excellent work on the part of the Cruise Marine Tourism Association of Malaysia in advancing maritime travel to Malaysia.

“In the weeks ahead as you travel to Kudat, in the north, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Semporna, and Tawau on the east coast of Sabah, I hope you will also enjoy attractions at the Turtle Islands, Kinabatangan River and Sipadan.”
