MALAYSIA- Showcasing the newest travel offers to the West Asian market and cementing tourist links, tourist Malaysia recently wrapped up an important sales mission to Oman and Qatar.
A diversified delegation of twenty-three Malaysian travel and hospitality providers was put together by Tourism Malaysia for this expedition. Twelve travel businesses, eight hotel companies, and a state government representative were present at this meeting; all of them were very important in boosting travel to our nation.
In Muscat and Doha, the delegation had business-to-business (B2B) meetings and networking dinners, showcasing Malaysia’s most recent travel offerings and fostering fruitful collaborations and information sharing between local and Malaysian travel industry partners.
With high per capita spending and longer average stays, West Asian travellers have been placed in the top five international spending groups in Malaysia regularly. 18,078 and 2,464 visitors from Oman and Qatar, respectively, were received by Malaysia in 2023.
“Although these figures show an encouraging trend, the mission’s objective was to reclaim the 23,911 pre-pandemic arrivals and 4,089 recorded in 2019.” The availability of convenient direct flights to Kuala Lumpur provided by Qatar Airways, Oman Air, and Salam Air further assisted this goal, according to Tourism Malaysia’s conclusion.
