A Call for Local Hawkers

PIFF 2024 is inviting local hawker stalls and food vendors to showcase their culinary expertise. With Penang’s street food like Assam Laksa and Char Koay Teow garnering international recognition, the festival offers a prime platform for food entrepreneurs to gain exposure and tap into a large, diverse audience. Given past festivals’ success in drawing huge crowds, vendors can expect to attract new customers and gain visibility for their businesses.

Boosting Penang’s Global Appeal

YB Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Finance, emphasized the festival’s importance in bolstering Penang’s status as a global food hub. “PIFF will attract more visitors and investment, generating significant economic activity for local businesses,” she said.

YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State EXCO for Tourism & Creative Economy, also highlighted the influx of international tourists, thanks to Penang’s expanding flight routes. “Direct flights from Hong Kong and Shenzhen will boost accessibility, allowing more international visitors to experience our famous hawker food and cultural attractions,” he said.

Mr. Andy Song, COO of PE Land, further underscored the festival’s role in showcasing Penang’s rich heritage, stating, “PIFF promotes the diverse food culture of Penang and fosters a sense of unity and pride in our shared heritage.”
