SKS Hospitality Hotels Participate in Environmental Programmes Across Johor in Conjunction with World Environment Day 2025

JOHOR BAHRU, July 3– Five hotels under the SKS Hospitality Essentials group carried out various environmental initiatives throughout Johor in June in conjunction with World Environment Day 2025.

In collaboration with local authorities, the participating hotels — AmanSari Nusajaya, AmanSari Desaru, and the FIVES Hotels JBCC, Meldrum and DNP — engaged in activities including community clean-up campaigns, coastal restoration, and tree planting.

At Flat Melawati in Skudai, 11 employees from AmanSari Nusajaya joined a neighbourhood clean-up on June 9, organised under the Johor Bersih – Plogging dan Jalan Angkat programme by the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP). A total of 58kg of waste was collected from drains, alleyways, and public spaces during the activity.

General Manager Zach Phuah said the hotel was committed to supporting environmental programmes and believed that even small-scale efforts could have a positive community impact.

Meanwhile, on June 15, staff from FIVES Hotels in Johor Bahru took part in the Green Discovery 2.0 – Naturekind Day Camp held at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC). A total of 50 tree saplings were planted through a partnership with the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB).

Cluster General Manager Melvin Chong said the initiative was aligned with the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community involvement.

In Desaru, 12 team members from AmanSari Desaru participated in a beach clean-up at Pantai Batu Layar on June 17 under the Alam Sekitar 2025 programme coordinated by the Pengerang Municipal Council. The team covered a 500-metre stretch of coastline and collected 25 bags of waste, including plastic bottles, wrappers, and other litter.

Hotel Operations Manager Rachael Teh said the hotel aimed to play a more active role in preserving the natural beauty of the local environment, which is also a key attraction for tourism in the area.

SKS Hospitality said the series of initiatives reflects the group’s commitment to environmental responsibility and its ongoing efforts to support sustainable practices at the grassroots level.

“These programmes represent a broader commitment across our hotels to support the communities in which we operate and to care for the environment,” the company said in a statement.
