August 16, 2024 — Johor Bahru’s “Spectacular Siam Weekend Dinner Buffet,” a culinary extravaganza showcasing the rich and varied flavours of Thailand, has been launched by Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre. This buffet, served every Friday and Saturday night, offers a distinctive eating experience by combining current fusion flavours with traditional Thai food.
The concept of “Nam Jai,” or “water from the heart,” which stands for cosiness, sharing, and hospitality, encapsulates the spirit of Thai culture and charity. The significance of this effort was emphasized by Emelyn Rosales, General Manager of Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre: “We aim to celebrate the unique culinary traditions of Thailand while connecting cultures. Thai food holds a special place in the hearts of Malaysians.”
The buffet, curated by the hotel’s excellent culinary staff under the direction of Sous Chef Zul, offers a variety of traditional Thai fare. Highlights include the Thai Boat Noodle Station, where patrons may customize bowls of flavorful beef noodles, Thai Crispy Duck with Mango Salad, and Thai Beef Salad. Other specialities include Slow-Cooked Thai Lamb Shanks, Thai Steamed Fish Curry wrapped in banana leaves, and Crispy Fluffy Fish with Mango.
Seafood enthusiasts can savour the Thai Crab Omelette Station, which combines juicy crab flesh with fluffy eggs, and the Tom Yum Station, which serves the traditional spicy soup. Desserts include contemporary takes on traditional Thai dishes like Jackfruit Sticky Rice and delights made with coconut from the Young Coconut Station.
The buffet is offered in Dine@Eight Restaurant, where guests may take advantage of the lively ambience heightened by live music and staff dressed in traditional Thai garb. Every weekend, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, there’s a supper buffet that costs RM138+ per adult. Senior citizens, kids, and IHG One Rewards members can receive special discounts.
