Penang International Food Festival Brings Culinary Celebration to Batu Kawan

Batu Kawan, November 5, 2024 – Following the success of the Penang International Food Festival (PIFF) @ Tanjong in George Town last weekend, PIFF is heading to Batu Kawan for a second round of festivities, showcasing Penang’s celebrated food culture. This culinary event will take place at the Design Village Outlet Mall on November 9 and 10, offering visitors a chance to explore Penang’s diverse flavors, with an emphasis on the local cuisine’s history and traditions.

PIFF @ Batu Kawan is organized by TLM Event in collaboration with the Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP) and is sponsored by PE Land, endorsed through Penang Global Tourism. Part of Penang’s broader “Jom! Experience Penang” tourism campaign and in line with the state’s Vision 2030, this festival seeks to position Penang as a culinary destination, inviting both locals and international visitors to experience the magic of its flavours.

Running from 5 PM to 11 PM on both days, PIFF @ Batu Kawan will feature over 100 food stalls, representing a variety of cafes, restaurants, and street vendors. The event’s highlights include:

• Pop-Up Café Corner: A cosy spot to enjoy speciality drinks and pastries.

• Barbeque Corner: For meat lovers, this station offers sizzling barbeque delights, served fresh off the grill.

• Instagram-worthy Decorations: Capture memorable moments with eye-catching decor that brings out the festival’s festive atmosphere.

• Live Band Performances and Fire Shows: Enjoy vibrant music and spectacular fire displays, adding excitement to the evening.

• Fireworks Display on November 9: A dazzling fireworks show will light up Saturday night, creating a grand ambience for the event.

Besides the culinary attractions, PIFF @ Batu Kawan promotes tourism in Seberang Perai, with additional opportunities for visitors to shop at Northern Malaysia’s largest outlet mall, Design Village Outlet Mall. Guests can also enjoy nearby attractions, including Aspen Vision City’s container art installations and the newly opened Decathlon store.

This food festival promises a weekend full of delicious discoveries and exciting activities, offering something for every taste and preference. With flavours ranging from spicy laksa and fragrant char kuey teow to colourful Nyonya kuih, PIFF @ Batu Kawan is a true celebration of Penang’s rich culinary heritage.
