Quang Ninh aims to become an international tourism hub, says Vietnam govt

By 2050, Quang Ninh hopes to become a global centre for tourism and the top travel destination in the world by establishing Ha Long Bay – Bai Tu Long Bay as a landscape paradise, coordinating the growth of the economic, social, and environmental ecosystems, and improving locals’ standard of living to an international standard.

These are a few of the major objectives of the province’s 2030 tourist development plan, which has a 2050 vision and is now being finalized by the People’s Committee of the province.

Under the project, Quang Ninh will continue to fortify its position as the engine of the country’s tourism industry, with the tourism industry emerging as a leading economic sector in the sustainable development of the marine economy toward green growth, from this point until 2030. The province aims to draw visitors throughout the year and establish itself as a must-visit location in Vietnam.

The province’s main objectives are to diversify its tourism offerings, increase the number of visitors, foster collaboration in the tourism industry, strengthen local capacity for state administration, and carry out tourism development strategies. The field’s digital revolution and the development of top-notch human resources for tourism will receive priority.

Quang Ninh will continuously adhere to the inclusive, sustainable tourism development strategy built on the principles of green growth.

The province seeks to combine tourist growth with the preservation and promotion of national cultural identities and values. It also seeks to develop tourism in a professional, high-quality, and sustainable manner. The province also sees the creation of national tourism sites and distinctive tourism goods with significant added value in several tourism-related fields.

Quang Ninh anticipates 17 million tourists this year, three million of them from outside the country. To do this, it is using strategies like luring travellers from China, Northeast Asia, Europe, and the US and expanding through marketing initiatives into new areas like Russia, Australia, the Middle East, and India.

To promote tourism, the province has scheduled 186 cultural and athletic events for 2024. Several of them are long-standing customs that have come to define Quang Ninh.

Hạ Long Summer Tourism Week 2024, Quang Ninh Ethnic Culture Day, Bach Dang Traditional Festival, culinary festival, three-region circus gala, OCOP summer 2024 fair, national music festival, Quang Ninh Open golf tournament, and Ha Long Heritage Marathon are just a few of these events. In 2024, it also intends to launch 62 other new travel offerings.
