AirAsia Celebrates Proud Milestone as World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for 16th Straight Year

PARIS: AirAsia has once more soared to greater heights, clinching the coveted “World’s Best Low-Cost Airline” award for the 16th year in a row at the highly-acclaimed Skytrax World Airline Awards 2025.

The award was announced in a ceremony held at the Paris Air Show on Wednesday, marking an impressive milestone for the Malaysian airline and underscored its resilience in the highly competitive low-cost travel industry.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes attributed the airline to sustained success in his acceptance address for the award, citing its people-centric service and integrated network across the region.

“This award is a testament to the tireless efforts of our whole team and the continuous encouragement of our guests,” Fernandes explained. “Sixteen years in a row consecutively is a record we don’t take lightly. It motivates us to continue enhancing the value and experience we offer travellers.”

The Skytrax World Airline Awards, also known as the “Oscars of the airline industry,” rely on millions of votes from passengers worldwide. AirAsia received an award for having the biggest network of routes with more than 130 ASEAN destinations and for its efforts to enhance the passenger experience and streamline travel in a post-pandemic era.

Industry watchers believe AirAsia’s strong value proposition and focus on regional connectivity continue to be important differentiators for the airline. The airline has also pushed into new regions like Central Asia and the Middle East in an aggressive bid to establish itself as a sector leader in the low-cost carrier market.

With its sixteenth straight win, AirAsia re-affirms itself as the region’s unbeatable king of affordable air travel — and a brand that continues to soar high in an era of shifting tides in the global aviation industry.
