PENANG, 6 July 2026 – More than just a drive, Proton celebrated its growing community of X50 owners with a unique convoy across Penang, culminating in a durian feast under the theme “King of SUV Meets King of Fruits.”
The customer appreciation programme brought together X50 owners from across the northern region for a day of scenic driving, community bonding and local flavours, reflecting Proton’s commitment to engaging customers beyond the point of vehicle ownership.
The convoy, which travelled through several of Penang’s iconic attractions, concluded with a durian festival where participants enjoyed one of Malaysia’s most celebrated fruits, creating a memorable experience that combined motoring, tourism and local culture.
Delivering his welcoming address, Mr Hari, State Manager of Proton, said the programme was organised to recognise the continued support of X50 owners while strengthening relationships within the Proton community.

“The Proton X50 Convoy is our way of thanking our customers for their continuous support while celebrating the strong community that has grown around one of Proton’s most successful models. More than just a drive, this programme is about creating meaningful experiences, strengthening relationships and reminding our owners that they remain an important part of the Proton family long after receiving the keys to their vehicle,” he said.
Hari noted that the event was held at a significant time for the national automaker, following Proton’s achievement of its 100,000-unit sales target by 30 June 2026. The milestone represents the company’s strongest first-half sales performance in 15 years and keeps it on track towards its annual target of 200,000 units.
He said the success would not have been possible without the confidence and loyalty of Proton customers, making the convoy an ideal opportunity to celebrate the achievement together.
The Proton X50 continues to be one of the company’s most successful models, with more than 165,000 units currently on Malaysian roads. Renowned for its modern design, advanced technology, performance and value, the model has established itself as one of Malaysia’s most popular SUVs

Hari said Proton believes customer engagement should continue long after vehicle delivery, with ownership experiences playing an increasingly important role in building lasting customer relationships.
“Our relationship with customers does not end when they take delivery of their vehicle. We want to continue creating memorable experiences that bring owners together, encourage them to enjoy their vehicles and strengthen their connection with the Proton brand,” he said.
The programme also served as a platform for Proton to engage directly with owners and gather valuable feedback on their ownership experiences. According to Hari, customer insights collected during the event will help the company and its dealer network further improve customer care, after-sales services and future engagement initiatives.
He added that while many owners continue to praise the X50’s styling, driving performance, technology and value for money, Proton remains committed to enhancing service convenience, communication and the overall ownership experience.
Highlighting the importance of customer advocacy, Hari said genuine owner experiences have become one of the strongest influences on consumer confidence.
“Today’s customers value authentic experiences. When owners share their positive journeys with family, friends and on social media, they become our strongest ambassadors. That trust is something no advertisement can replace,” he said.
Looking ahead, Hari said Proton intends to organise more owner-focused activities that combine driving experiences, lifestyle events and community engagement, while strengthening collaboration with owner clubs and independent enthusiast groups nationwide.
“We want every Proton owner to feel proud, appreciated and connected. This convoy is only the beginning, and we look forward to creating more opportunities for our customers to come together and continue their journey as part of the growing Proton family,” he said.
By combining the “King of SUV” with Malaysia’s iconic “King of Fruits,” the Penang convoy showcased Proton’s customer-first approach while celebrating the camaraderie of its owner community through an experience that was uniquely Malaysian.
