PENANG: St. Giles Wembley, Penang marked the holy month of Ramadan by bringing together guests, partners, and members of the local community through a Majlis Berbuka Puasa themed “Rahmat Ramadan”.
Held at the hotel’s Wembley Café on March 9, the event welcomed corporate and government guests, including representatives from the police and the Fire and Rescue Department, for an evening celebrating the spirit of togetherness associated with the fasting month.
The gathering also included 18 children and four caretakers from Rumah Anak Yatim Kasih Ayah Bonda, who were invited to join the buka puasa buffet dinner. The children were presented with duit raya and specially prepared hampers, creating memorable moments during the evening.
Guests were entertained by a live gamelan performance by Wak Long Music & Art Center, adding a traditional cultural touch to the celebration.
A lucky draw was also held, with prizes such as hotel stays and weekend buffet dining experiences offered to attendees.
Beyond the buka puasa event, the hotel team also organised a community initiative in conjunction with Ramadan by preparing and distributing 300 packs of bubur lambuk to members of the public in front of the hotel lobby.
The activity saw staff members working together to prepare the traditional porridge before sharing it with passers-by and members of the surrounding community.
The initiatives reflect the hotel’s commitment to fostering meaningful connections with guests and the community, while embracing the spirit of compassion and generosity during the Ramadan season.
