GEORGE TOWN: Carolyn Leong has been returned as chairman of the Penang chapter of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) for the 2026–2029 term.
Her re-election was confirmed during the chapter’s annual general meeting held at JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La on Wednesday.
Leong will be supported by a committee comprising deputy chairman Lau Kye Pinn and treasurer S. Vidasagar, together with Yeap Li Boon, Hazlina Abdul Rashid, Teoh Li Fung and Leong Mee Meng.
MATTA president Nigel Wong was also present at the meeting.
The AGM was followed by a buka puasa gathering attended by Ayer Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng as well as several foreign diplomats, including Japan’s consul-general in Penang Shinya Machida, Thailand’s consul-general in Penang Psusist Wongsurawat and China’s deputy consul-general in Penang Ding Qiao.
Also in attendance were Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang chapter chairman Datuk Tony Goh, Penang Centre of Medical Tourism executive director Mary Ann Harris and other tourism industry stakeholders.
MATTA Penang also announced that the MATTA Fair 2026 will take place on April 25 and 26 at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC).
