CM: Melakans can enter state tourist sites for free between August 24 and December 31.

MALAYSIA – From August 24 to December 31, Melakans can visit all state tourist sites for free. This coincides with the birthday of Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.

Melaka Zoo, Melaka River Cruise, Menara Taming Sari, and Melaka Museum are among the tourist attractions included in the free entry offer, according to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

In honour of Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam’s reappointment for a second term and in celebration of his birthday, he told reporters here yesterday, “The offer applies to ’04’ identity card (IC) holders and (Melaka) residents.”

“After Melaka citizens and residents register in the special application, they will receive a coupon through the state government’s Telegram application for free entry to the tourist locations via the QR code, which they can redeem.”

He made this statement following a dinner event connected to Mohd Ali’s swearing-in ceremony. Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, the head of the State Tourism, Heritage, Art, and Culture Committee, was also present.

Ab Rauf went on to explain that any citizen or resident of Melaka was only allowed to take advantage of the free offer for one tourist location and that they may select the tourist attraction and the admission date.

“Free admission is available during the week as well as on weekends. To ensure that everyone in Melaka may take advantage of the offer, I will shortly make public the specifics for redeeming the complimentary coupons,” he stated.

Additionally, he stated that the offer was made in response to the success of the same initiative, which was launched in conjunction with Melaka’s declaration of February 20 as a public holiday to honour the nation’s observance of the Federation of Malaya’s declaration of independence, which was first made at Padang Bandar Hilir on this date in 1956.

In honour of Mohd Ali’s birthday, the Melaka government announced yesterday in the media that August 24 (Saturday) would now be observed as a holiday. Additionally, free admission to several state tourism sites will be provided to Melaka citizens and residents- Bernama
