Yesterday, the Cameron Highlands district government demolished a well-liked tourist destination in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, that had been operating illegally.
Around nine in the morning, the operation got underway under the direction of Cameron Highlands district council president Azmil Hadid Maznan.
The council announced on Facebook that personnel from Tenaga Nasional Berhad, police, the Pahang enforcement unit, the district and land office, and the Public Works Department participated.
“The building was demolished due to violations of Section 70(1) of the Streets, Drainage, and Building Act 1974, which involved construction without the local government’s prior written consent.
“Hopefully, the enforcement action will serve as a warning and reminder to any quarters that plan to carry out development projects that they need to fully comply with the relevant procedures and regulations,” stated the announcement.
When visitors to the well-known hill station in the nation come to visit, the establishment, which opened its doors in April of this year, becomes an instant favourite with both domestic and foreign tourists- NST
