KOTA KINABALU: Situated at the base of Mount Kinabalu, rustic Kiulu is poised to become a model agricultural and rural tourism destination in Sabah, according to Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
Assemblyman Bangkuai of Kiulu stated that a strategy to improve Kiulu’s economic standing in accordance with the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan has been outlined.
He claimed that the plan would take advantage of Kiulu’s potential in manufacturing, tourism, and agriculture.
He made this statement on Saturday, July 6, at the Mukim Nabalu Kaamatan Festival kickoff in Pekan Nabalu.
Kiulu, according to Bangkuai, is an illustration of a flourishing rural resort with locally driven tourism.
“We need to build on this achievement. Our primary industry and strength is agriculture, with pineapples being the main crop.
“We have to take advantage of this,” he stated, adding that Kiulu’s agriculture sector advancement opens up prospects to investigate manufacturing.
Oniston added that Kiulu’s rural tourist industry had created about 400 employees.
He continued by saying that he would use some of his ADUN allotment to construct and fix agricultural roads inside the constituency.
There are almost 70 agricultural roads in Kiulu – The Star.
