Thai delegation pays courtesy visit to Penang Port Commission

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Port Commission (PPC) recently welcomed a high-level delegation from Thailand on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening ties and exploring collaborative opportunities in maritime and logistics, according to a Facebook post by PPC chairman Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin.

Led by Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister of Thailand, Dr. Thitiwat Adisornphankal, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), Mr. Piyasiri Wattanavarangkul, the delegation also included representatives from the Royal Thai Consulate in Penang and other Thai government departments.

Datuk Yeoh, along with members of the PPC leadership team, warmly received the visitors at the Commission’s headquarters.

According to his Facebook post, the delegation was given a comprehensive briefing on Penang Port’s operations, sustainability goals, and its ongoing efforts in digitalisation and green port initiatives.

The visit also highlighted the longstanding friendship between Malaysia and Thailand and focused on the potential to enhance regional connectivity across logistics, maritime operations and infrastructure.

In his post, Datuk Yeoh wrote that the meeting reflected a shared commitment to knowledge-sharing and strategic partnership in order to bolster regional cooperation and mutual growth across the ASEAN maritime and logistics sectors.

He also expressed his appreciation for the engagement and noted that PPC looks forward to future partnerships with its Thai counterparts.
