At the Royal Thai Consulate General in Penang’s location on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, more than 250 people showed up to donate blood as part of a blood drive that was organized today by the organization in collaboration with the Hui Yin Seh Metta Blood Donation Group and Penang Forward Sports Club.
The organizers of the event were complimented by Daniel Gooi, the Penang state executive councillor for Youth, Sports, and Health, for their efforts in gathering at least 300 packets of blood for the Penang Island Hospital, Penang Lam Wah Ee Hospital, and Penang Hospital.
As everyone is aware, giving blood is a “gift” that has the power to save lives in addition to being a kind deed.
Following his visit to the blood donation station, Gooi made a statement during his address saying, “I am grateful to see so many brave blood savers stepping up to offer their life-giving blood and backing this event.”
Speaking on behalf of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was unable to participate in this campaign because of another official obligation, Gooi emphasized the importance of blood donation, especially since it fell on July 28, the day of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand’s sixth cycle birthday celebration.
This year’s event is in its third year; Penang Forward Sports Club and the Royal Consulate are spearheading the blood donation drive, and this is the first time Penang Hui Yin Seh has joined forces as a co-organizer.
Gooi conveyed his gratitude to Penang Forward Sports Club for their dedication to philanthropic endeavours in addition to their success in sports.
He claimed that Hui Yin Seh, one of the most well-known and active humanitarian organizations—particularly when it comes to coordinating blood donation campaigns—no longer needs an introduction.
Earlier, His Excellency Raschada Jiwalai, Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang, extended a hearty greeting to Gooi.
Assemblyman Teh Lai Heng from Komtar, Assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng from Pengkalan Kota, Chairman Lim Choo Hooi of Penang Forward Sports Club, Advisor Datuk Chuang Keng Kung from Hui Yin Seh, Chairman Khiah Hock Leong from Hui Yin Seh, Vice-Chairman Lim Thung Hin from Hui Yin Seh, Deputy Director Awangku Iswandy Aswangku Serma from the National Registration Department of Penang, and Director Harry Chai Heng Hua from Penang State Sports Council were among the other distinguished guests in attendance.
Raschada conveyed her sincere appreciation to Penang Forward Sports Club (PFSC) and Hui Yin Seh, two additional partners, for their cooperative efforts in making the event a success.
“Today, we’re supporting one another, overcoming barriers of geography or faith,” he declared. Thailand also observes and celebrates His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s 72nd birthday on this important day.
“We have about 20 to 30 Thais from the community here joining us in celebrating this auspicious day, in addition to our regular blood donors.”
The blood drive today, according to Choo Hooi, was noteworthy since it took place in Penang, Thailand, on Thai territory and offered blood donors a unique chance to visit the Royal Thai Consulate General’s facilities.

According to Khiah, the Hui Yin Seh Metta Blood Donation Group was founded in 1996 and has since expanded from a few dozen blood donors to over 10,000 members.
In addition, he expressed his gratitude to all the unsung heroes who bravely gave blood today, noting that in just the first two hours, an amazing 150 points of blood had been gathered.
Since our founding, we have organized and carried out blood donation events every month, collecting a total of over 80,000 pints of blood. Numerous hospitals throughout the state usually get the blood supply.
Medical investigation indicates that blood donation can enhance blood flow, temporarily lower the blood’s viscosity, reduce the number of red blood cells, and either prevent or lessen the issue related to hyperviscous blood.
“Our body can boost the synthesis of new blood when the volume of blood in our bodies is reduced, and this can somewhat accelerate the metabolism process.
Furthermore, blood donation may lessen the chance of heart and brain vascular problems. Thus, I hereby call on everyone who is well to come forward and assist us in giving blood,” Khiah stated.
The 52-year-old factory supervisor Ch’ng Hong Hooi, also known as “birthday boy,” was one of the numerous blood donors today.
Since the mid-1990s, I have given blood more than 20 times. While receiving care from Noorazimawati Ahmad, a staff nurse from the Penang Hospital blood bank, Ch’ng said, “I want to help save more lives by donating blood.”
Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, a devoted frequent blood donor, and Tan Hui Ming, special assistant to the chief minister, were also seen giving blood.
This is my sixteenth blood donation. Hui Ming grinned and continued, “I think this gift is invaluable since it has the potential to save lives.
Additional counters were erected to assist organ donation and offer free health exams, while a sizable area was reserved for blood donations.
In addition, a counter for public consultation on identity card applications, citizenship queries, and birth certificate registrations was opened by the National Registration Department.
