KIULU (November 29): According to Kiulu Assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Kiulu can develop into a health-conscious travel destination by utilizing its natural beauty and the community’s support.
According to him, Kiulu is a place for “tourism with a heart,” where tourists and locals alike may enjoy the city’s natural beauty and health benefits.
“Kiulu has a strong sense of community and belonging. The assistant minister of tourism, culture, and the environment, Joniston, stated, “We can promote tourism that brings holistic benefits to everyone.”
He said these things in the Kiulu Community Hall today during the closing ceremony of a Dementia and Alzheimer’s Awareness Talk organized in honour of Welfare Month.
Joniston emphasized the significance of raising awareness about these illnesses and the support that small towns like Kiulu provide to those suffering from illnesses like dementia.
Furthermore, he said, “Traditional activities like farming and handicrafts, as well as the use of natural therapy, such as the tranquil atmosphere and picturesque landscapes of Kiulu, can serve as supportive elements for patients.”
The Sabah Alzheimer’s Disease Support Association, in partnership with the local community, organized the awareness program, which included presentations and informational sessions about dementia and Alzheimer’s patient support, prevention, and symptoms.
According to Joniston, the program gives Kiulu residents critical knowledge that helps them recognize early indicators of dementia and Alzheimer’s while offering social, emotional, and physical assistance along with Kiulu’s principles of solidarity and community strength.
Datuk Zahra Ismail, the founder of the Sabah Alzheimer’s Disease Support Association; Venitia Lojuti, the association’s deputy president; and Golubi Guntarek, the community development leader for N.15 Kiulu, also attended the session- Borneo post Online
